Title: Lie #7: I can be a healthy Christian without the Church.

The Truth: The Bible is relevant because it reveals God’s saving remedy for humanity’s hopeless condition.

3 reasons to prioritize church engagement:

1. God expects you to. (Mt. 16:15-18, 1 Peter 2:9-10, Hebrews 10:25.)
   

2. You need the church. ( Col. 1:18-20, Ephesians 4:12-16)

3. The church needs you. (1 Cor. 12:14-20, 27 Mt. 28:19-20)
   

Ways to faithfully engage the church:

1. Show Up.
   

2. Stand on the Word.
   

3. Stay prayed up.
   

4. Serve wholeheartedly.
   

5. Support the mission.

Discussion Questions:

1. What are some of the most pressing competing priorities that keep Christians from faithfully engaging with the church?
   

2. Jesus’ words communicate the significant value and vitality of the local church. On a scale of 1-10, how much do you think the typical Christian understands and embraces that?
   

3. The bible teaches that the church was founded and secured by Christ to worship Him, nurture and encourage fellow believers, and share Jesus with out world. Which of these purposes do you feel like CP does well?
   

4. Read Ephesians 4:12-16. What clues do these verses give us about what it looks like to be a healthy and mature Christian in the church?

5. The sermon included 4 “counter truths” to combat the lie that a person can be a healthy Christian without the church. Which of those included below impact you the most?

   1. You cannot honor Jesus and neglect His bride at the same time.

   2. You can’t serve the Head when you are disconnected from His body.
      

   3. You will never effectively love and lead this lost culture until you learn to love and lean on the family of faith.
